“April Fools!” from the outdoor industry

So  today is April 1st and my Facebook feed is full of pranks. But who did it best?


Alpkit were keen to show off their new range of ultra-lightweight products:

 Apparently as much as 50% of a products weight can be lost by cutting it in half…

 Also keen to push their lightweight products were kayak retailer “Desperate Measures” who announced the new range of Jackson freestyle boats:

Jackson Kayaks themselves have the April Fool’s Day joke nailed after previous years when:

– In 2011 Eric Jackson announced his retirement from competitive freestyle kayaking 

– 2012 saw the release of the Jackson All-Star white in water fishing spec

– EJ retired from working as a kayak designer in 2013

– Jackson kayaks were taken over by Confluence last year


There was a new product released for all of the divers out there. A lifetime of free air refills:

Drones are becoming increasingly popular now, with plans released to deliver snacks to those out hill walking in the lake district:

5.10 announced a new range of climbing gloves, using their famous “stealth rubber” technology:


Perhaps these gloves will open up the new, harder climbing grades to the masses?
